About the TIFF to JPG Converter

TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a high-quality format widely used in professional photography, printing, and archival scanning. It stores image data with minimal or no compression, resulting in very large files — a single TIFF can be 20–100 MB or more. While this is fine for professional workflows, it's impractical for sharing, uploading, or using on the web. Converting to JPG dramatically reduces the file size while keeping the image visually sharp at high quality settings.

Tips for best results

  • TIFF often stores significantly more detail than is visible on screen — the JPG output will still look excellent at high quality settings.
  • If you need to preserve absolute maximum quality (for print work), use TIFF to PNG instead — PNG is lossless.
  • Multi-page TIFF files contain multiple images — this converter processes the first page only.

FAQs

TIFF was designed for professional use where quality is paramount. It stores image data with little or no compression, preserving every detail — which results in very large files. A full-resolution photo scan can easily be 50–100 MB as a TIFF.

JPG uses lossy compression, so some data is discarded. However, at the high quality setting used by this tool (90%), the difference is not visible to the human eye for the vast majority of images, especially at normal viewing sizes.

Dramatically smaller — often 95% or more. A 50 MB TIFF photo typically converts to a JPG of 2–5 MB with no perceptible quality loss at normal viewing sizes.

Some TIFF variants support transparency, but it is rare in practice. If your TIFF has transparency and you need to preserve it, convert to PNG instead.

This converter processes the first image/page in the TIFF file. Multi-page TIFFs (common in scanned documents) are partially supported — contact us if you need a different page.
